do not have to/have not got to 的否定形式作“不一定”讲，而 must not 这个否定形式则是用来表达禁止的（注： do not have to 和 have not got to 都是 have （ got ） to 的否定形式。美国英语则多半用 need not ，现在英国英语中也有说 need not 的）。
比较：
You don't have to tell George. 你不一定要对乔治讲。（ =You can if you like but it isn't necessary ）
You mustn't tell George. 你一定不要对乔治讲。（ =Don'ttell George. ）
