这两个短语动词不容混淆： show one's ivories 作“咧嘴而笑”讲，而 show one's teeth 则是“张牙舞爪”的意思。
例如：
When the mother gave her baby something to eat ； itshowed its ivories. 当母亲拿东西给小宝宝吃的时候，他就咧嘴笑了起来。
