这两个短语动词不容混淆： bring down to earth 作“使之清醒”讲，是不自觉的； come down to earth 则是“清醒过来”的意思，是自觉的（参见词条 P.277 ）。
例如：
Losing a child like that brought them down to earth. 丢失了那样一个小孩之后，一定会促使他们幡然清醒。
The lovers are living in a kind of dream world ； but one day they'll come down to earth. 这对情人正生活在梦境之中，
但总有一天会清醒过来。
