词组 out
释义 out

'out of'

When you go out of a place or get out of something such as a vehicle, you leave it, so that you are no longer inside it.
She rushed out of the house.
He got out of the car.
She's just got out of bed.

Note that in standard English you must use 'of' in sentences like these. You do not say, for example, 'He got out the car'. For more information about 'go out' and 'get out', see entry at ↑ go out.

You do not usually use 'from' after out. However, you use 'from' in front of another preposition such as 'behind' or 'under'.
He came out from behind the table.

'out' used as an adverb

You can use out as an adverb to say that someone leaves a place.
I ran out and slammed the door.
Why don't we go out into the garden?

If someone is out, they are not at home.
He came when I was out.
