| 释义 | 1．a great many（很多）比 a good many（相当多）语气重。两种表达方式后面直接接名词，不用 of，如可以说 a great（或 good）many books。不可说 a great（或 good）many of books。但在 a great（或 good）many of my（或 his，these 等）books 等表达方式里的 of 当然不可省去。 2．a many（=a great many）现在不算正当。 3．many a 作 many times a...（许多的，一个又一个的）解，后面接单数名词，那动词也是单数形式。例如：Many a man has tried it before. 4．下面各句都不合习惯： The books are many here.（该改作 The books are plentiful here 或 There are many books here。） The books are a great（或 good）many here.（该改作 There are a great［或 good］many books here。） His books are many.（该改作 He has many books。） His books are a great（或 good）many.（该改作 He has a great［或 good］many books。） The books are many 和 His books are many 有时可以说，但通常含有“虽然多”或“确实多”的意思。例如： The books are many, but the pictures are few.
