| 释义 | 1．woman 单独用指一般女子。例如：In the old society woman's sphere was said to be the home. 和Woman is not at all weaker than man, neither physically nor intellectually. the woman 往往指女子的特性。例如：He has much of the woman in him. 和 There is little of the woman in her. 2．woman 用作形容词跟 female 相同，如 woman doctor 和 woman friend。假使那个名词是复数，通常用复数形式 women，偶尔用单数形式 woman，如 women clerks，women doctors 和 women friends 里的 women 偶尔改用 woman。 3．形容 doctor(s)，friend(s)，counsellor(s)，student(s) 等词，当然只可用 woman 或 women，不可用 woman's 或 women's。woman movement（妇女运动）和 woman suffrage（妇女参政权）等表达方式里的 woman 不可改作 women。但也有人用 woman's suffrage 或 women's suffrage。 严格地说，woman's 统指“女性”或“女子们”，women's 指“一个一个的女子”，但事实上竟可以说没有区别，如 woman's rights（女权）和 women's rights，woman's opportunity 和 women's opportunity，woman's college 和 women's college。 |
