| 释义 | 1． 修饰单数名词时，后面常跟单数动词: Each man reads alone. Each book is beautifully illustra- ted. 2． 但下面几种情况中，each 后面的动词或所有格人称代词可用复数形式。 1) 用在复数主语之后，句中的所有格人称代词等也要与主语一致，即便两句间有逗号分开; 如果意思相连， each 也常这样用: They each do their share of work. The families live in semi-detached houses，and each have their own doors. 2) 后面跟的所有格人称代词习惯上常用 his，但在现代英语中为避免男尊女卑，常用复数 their 等来泛指男人或女人，当然也可用 his or her 的形式; 下面的两种说法都是可以接受: Each student has their own place in the reading room. Each student has his or her own place in the reading room. 3) each of 后面跟较长的成分，而且该成分中的名词又是复数，其动词可以是单数或复数，下面两种说法都可以: Each of the 26 professors in the college is specialists trained a- broad. Each of the 26 professors in the college are specialists trained a- broad. 3． each of 后是复数名词时，后面常跟单数动词: Each of us has a lot to do. Each of the articles relates to the same scandal. 4． 但是，在现代英语的实际使用中， each of 后是复数名词时，后面也有跟复数动词的，而且数量不少: She has 20 students， each of whom pay 25 yuan an hour. Each of her ideas are stated. 5． 归纳起来说，如果将 each 作为分开的对象来看就使用单数动词; 如果将 each 作为集合名词来看，就可以使用复数动词以及相关的代词。 6． 一般不说: each of A，B and C each of A and B between each 7． each 与 every 都可以译成“每个”，但含义和用法不同。 1) each 侧重从“个体的”角度去形容，every 从“团体、整体”角度去看问题: He gave one book to each student of the class. ( 强调每个学生都有书) Every student got a book. ( 强调所有的学生都有书) 2) each 可以指“两个中的一个”，也可以指“两个以上的”; every 只能形容“3 个以上的”事物: The road has a sign at each end. ( 路一般只有两端，这里不能用 every) Every student has to take the final exam. ( 这里指全体学生) 3) each 既可以作形容词，又可以作代词; 而 every 只能作形容词用。 4) every 可译成“每个 ……”，each 不可以: every two days 每隔两天 each other，one another 两个词组都可以翻译成“互相”。 1． 有人说 each other 局限于两人， one another 可用于 3 人以上: The two men shook hands with each other. ( 仅两人) They all shook hands with one an- other. ( 不止一人) 2． 但在实际上，两词在表示“两人之间”时，没有原则上的区别，可以换用: The two states do a lot of trade with one another / each other. 甚至表示 3 人以上时，两词也可换用: Dozens of books were piled on top of each other / one another. The people in the room all knew each other / one another. 3． each other 的所有格有两种形式: They held each other's hands. They held each others' hands. 4． each other 一般不用来作主语。 |
