表达时间的过去， last 这个形容词总是指一定时期为止，多半用于一般过去时态（参见词目 502 、 504 和 505 ）；如果是指一定时期之后一直延续至当前为止，则要加饰定冠词 the ，并以用于现在完成时态为宜（注：在短语里已饰有 the 的，又当别论）。
比较：
I had flu last week. 上星期我患了感冒。（ = … dur-ing the week before the last ）
I have had flu the last week. 我患感冒已有一星期了。
（ = … during the seven days up to today ）
Last year was difficult. 去年日子不好过。（ =The year upto last December …）
The last year has been difficult. 过年一年中的日子不好过。
（ =The twelve months up to now …）
