lay ： lie — 513
这两个动词不容混淆：前者是作“放好”或“放平”讲，其词形变化是： lay 、 laying 、 laid 和 laid ；后者则是“躺下”或“躺平”的意思，其词形变化是： lie 、 lying 、 lay 和 lain 。
例如：
I laid the papers out on the table. 我把各人的论文摊放在桌子上。
Please lay the tent down on the grass and I'll try to see howto put it up. 请把帐篷放在草地上，我要试试怎样把它架起来。
Don't lie in bed all day. Get up and do some work. 别成天躺在床上；起来干些活。
I threw myself flat and lay motionless for twenty minutes.
我躺倒不动 20 分钟。
比较：
The hen laid an egg in the hen house which lay on thehill. 这只母鸡在放在山脚边的那个鸡窝里下了一个蛋。
