suppose ： supposing-789
当作连词使用，前者是作“倘若”、“何不”和“要是”讲，而后者这个连词则多半表达原因和条件（注：近来新出版的个别英语词典，已把 suppose 这个动词列为连词来编。）
例如：
Suppose it rains, what shall we do? 倘若下雨，我们干啥？（ = If it rains ，…）
Suppose we wait a while. 我们且等待一下看如何。（ = why not 的意思）
Suppose you won a hundred pounds, what would you do with it? 要是你赢了 100 镑钱，那你又将如何处理呢？（ =
What would … if …的意思）
Supposing everyone who accepted the invitation actually comes, there will be just under two hundred guests. 接到请帖的人要是都赏光的话，恰好不到 200 位客人。（说明原委）
Supposing no unforeseen delays occur, how long would the work take? 如果不发生意外的耽误，这项工作要花多少时间便可完成？（提出条件）
