这两个短语不容混淆： at a time 作“每次”或“连续”讲，可以用于多种时态（参见词条 P.1047 ）， at one time 则是“在过去某一段时间”的意思，只能用于一般过去时态（参见词条 P.1049 ）。
例如：
Only thirty persons at a time were allowed in to see the pandas. 每次只允许 30 人进去看熊猫。
Usually she doesn't touch anything for two or so at a time. 她一连两三天不吃一点东西是常事。
