例如：
For this job it is desirable to know something about medicine. 干这个工作，就需要医药方面的知识。（指物质上的需求）
The people all over the world are desirous of real disarmament. 全世界人民渴望真正的裁军。（指精神上的需求）
比较：
We are desirous to secure scientific and technological know-how because it is very desirable. 我们渴望学到科技方面的知识，因为这种知识是非常急需的。（前者是对人而言，后者是对物而言。）
