1. 日月的表示法：
　“4月7日”一般有如下的几种表示法：the 7th of April; the seventh of April; 7(th) April和April 7(th)。一般认为在书面语中以不带定冠词为宜，即后两种说法更好些。这两种写法都可读为：①April seven; ②April seventh; ③April the seventh; ④the seventh of April.
2. 年、月、日的简写：
　与汉语中的“2000年4月7日”顺序不同，英式英语说“日月年”，即7/4/00或7, 4, 00；美式英语则说“月日年”，即4/7/00或4, 7, 00。近年来在英国也有说“月日年”，即采用美式说法的。如此说来，在日、月均为一位数时，在英美是极易混淆的。为此，国际标准化组织推荐采用“00.4.7”的写法。这种写法已日渐普及，特别是在欧洲。
3. 注意next April可指“今年4月份”，也可指“来年4月份”。4月份之前说next April指“今年4月份”; 4月份之后的next April指“来年4月份”。
4. April的来源有两种说法：一是富于幻想的古罗马人根据拉丁词operire（意为“开放”)造了Aprilis，以表示该月树木抽芽、春蕾绽放。二是以希腊神话中爱与美的女神Aphrodite而命名Aprilis. 另外，早先英国人称4月为easter-month，即“复活节月”。
5. 英美人喜欢以Diamond（钻石）和Daisy（雏菊）、Sweet Pea（香豌豆花）指代April.
