　I am glad to play volleyball this afternoon.　我愿意今天下午打排球。
 ♣ fond, devoted
　两者都可表示对某人、某事的情感。其区别在于：fond在程度上不如devoted深。例如：
　The couple, who were nothing more than fond of each other when they first got married, have now grown into devoted lovers.　那对男女在初婚时彼此不过有好感而已，而现在已经发展成为一对相亲相爱的夫妻了。

　［析］ fond是形容词，不是动词，通常要和动词be以及介词of连用，表示“喜欢”“爱”的意思，后面跟名词或动名词等。其中of不能省略。
3. 她很喜欢读唐诗。
　［误］ She is much fond of reading poetry of the Tang Dynasty.
　［正］ She is very fond of reading poetry of the Tang Dynasty.
　［析］ 表示“很〔非常〕喜欢”时，可用very修饰fond，但不可用much来修饰。
4. 谁也不喜欢被别人耍弄。
　［误］ No one is fond of making fun.
　［正］ No one is fond of being made fun of.
　［析］ “耍弄”英文是make fun of，在本句中它是介词的宾语，又表被动，所以用动名词的被动式。
5. 他不喜欢游泳。
　［误］ He is not fond of swimming.
　［正］ He does not care to swim.
　［析］ 表示“不喜欢”，习惯不说not fond of.
