| 释义 | 1．hope（名词）后面接 of 和动名词或接以 that 引导的从句，偶尔接不定式，如可以说 I have the hope of seeing him again 和 I have the hope that I shall see him again。偶尔有人说 I have the hope to see him again。 2．hope（动词）后面接不定式或以 that 引导的从句，不可接动名词，如可以说 I hope to see him again 和 I hope that I shall see him again，不可说 I hope seeing him again。 3．hope（动词）后面极少接宾语和不定式，如最好不说 I hope you to see him again，可以改作 I hope that you will see him again。同样地，最好不说 You are hoped to see him again，可以改作 It is hoped that you will see him again。有人说 I hope for you to see him again。 4．hope 很容易犯双重被动的毛病，如不可说 All these plans are hoped to be carried out next year。该改作 It is hoped that all these plans will be carried out next year。 5．hope 是及物动词，但后面极少接名词，如通常不说 We used to hope better times。该在 hope 后面加上 for。 6．in the hope of...ing 和 in hopes of...ing 意思相同，in the hope that...和 in hopes that...也意思相同。注意用了 the 便用单数形式 hope，不用 the 便用复数形式 hopes。同样地，have the hope of...ing 和 have the hope that...改作 have hopes of...ing 和 have hopes that...也可以。have hopes 后面有时接不定式。例如：I have hopes to see him again. 7．比较下面三句： I hope to see him again. I shall hope to see him again. I am hoping to see him again. 三句意思相同，第三句比较不正式些。 8．比较下面三句： I hope he will arrive safely. I hope he arrives safely. I hope he may arrive safely. 第二句最不正式，主要用在美国，第三句最正式。 9．比较下面两句： I had hoped that you would come. （我原来希望你来［实际你未曾来］。） I had been hoping that you would come. （我原来［在继续］希望你来［直到现在还希望你来］。） 第二句里有过去完成时态的特别用法，说这句话的人有些羞怯，不敢说 I have been hoping...更不敢说 I hope...或 I am hoping... |
