| 释义 | 1．side 前面用 at，by，in 和 on 都有，下面几点该注意： （1）说“在某人的旁边”通常用 by 或 at。例如：A little girl was sitting by（或at）my side. 但 the side of 前通常用 by，很少用 at，如 A little girl was sitting by the side of her brother 里用 by，很少用 at。 （2）说“在街、路或河的旁边（指一边）”通常用 by，很少用 at，如 An old man was standing by the side of the street 里用 by，很少用 at。说“在街、路或河的两边”通常用 at 或 on。例如：There are shops at（或on）both sides of the street. 说“在街、路或河的这边、那边或另一边”通常用 on。例如：There is a barber's shop on this side of the street. She was interested in everything on this side the grave. （她对于今天的事物都发生兴趣。）有时省去 on 而不省去 of。例如：She was interested in everything this side of the grave. 和 Try to keep your letters this side of 500 words. （写信请至多不超过 500 个字。）this side of 似乎不用作“在……的这一边”解。 3．He knows (on) which side his bread is buttered（他知道自己利益的所在）里的 on 可有可无。 4．take sides with 和 take the side of 都作“赞助（某人）”或“袒护（某人）”解，注意第一种表达方式里没有 the，用复数形式 sides，用 with，第二种表达方式里有 the，用单数形式 side，用 of。 5．side 在指问题的方面的时候后面习惯用 to。例如：There are two sides to every question. （对于每一问题，总有两方面。） |
