of a kind 这个修饰语作“次货”讲，是后置的（参见词条 P.538 ）； of the kind 这个修饰语是“同类”的意思，也是后置的，多半修饰 nothing 和 anything 。
例如：“ They gave you coffee to drink ， eh? ” - “ Well ， coffee of akind. ”“他们给你咖啡喝，嗯，是吗？”——“可是，怕是蹩脚咖啡吧。”
She gave us what she called “ Yorkshire pudding ”， but it wasnothing of the kind. 她拿来给你尝的据说是“约克郡布丁”，可并不是这类货色吧。
