词组 | remember |
释义 | remember If you remember people or events from the past, your mind still has an impression of them and you are able to think about them. I remember Sylvia Burton's bunch of wild flowers. He remembered the man well. You do not usually use a continuous tense of remember. You do not say, for example, 'I am remembering Sylvia Burton's bunch of wild flowers'. You can use either an '-ing' form or a 'to'-infinitive after remember, but with different meanings. If your mind has an impression of something you did in the past, you say that you remember doing it. I remember cabling home for more money. If you do something that you had intended to do, you can say that you remember to do it. He remembered to turn the gas off. ◊ 'remind' If you mention to someone that they had intended to do something, you do not say that you 'remember' them to do it. You say that you remind them to do it. See entry at ↑ |
