靠着〔沿着〕…的旁边　close to the side of a ship, pier, etc.

　alongside　用作副词时不用于比较等级。

　The boat came alongside.　船靠岸了。
　The two ships lay alongside of each other.　这两艘船并排靠着。

 ♣ alongside of
1. 〈美·非正〉平行，并排side by side
　Alongside of him stood his uncle.　他的身旁站着他叔叔。
2. 〈美口·非正〉与…相比compared with
　His works are second-rate productions, alongside of those of some of his contemporaries.　和他同时代的一些人比较，他的著作属于二流作品。

 ♣ alongside, alongside of, beside
　这三个词（组）均可表示“在…旁边”。
1. alongside强调“与…并排”，尤用于船舶，指“与码头或其他船只”并排靠拢着。
2. alongside of和alongside意思相同，但前者是美式英语，主要用于非正式场合中，且可用于人。
3. beside仅表示“在…旁边”，它不强调具体的存在方式。
