　［析］ 在含有day的节日名称前，通常不加定冠词the.
3. 下雨天他们通常做室内运动。
　［误］ They usually play indoor games in rainy days.
　［正］ They usually play indoor games on rainy days.
　［析］ 表示“在特定的某一天”用介词on，如指一天的过程用介词in.
4. 你将会在一两天内收到她的信。
　［误］ You will receive her letter in one day or two.
　［正］ You will receive her letter in a day or two.
　［正］ You will receive her letter in one or two days.
　［析］ 表示“在一两天内”，应该说in a day or two或in one or two days，但不能说in one day or two.
5. 我整整5年没有见过她了。
　［误］ I haven't seen her for five years to day.
　［正］ I haven't seen her for five years to the day.
　［析］ 表示时间确切到一点也不差时，应该用...to the day.
6. 他们白天休息，夜间旅行。
　［误］ They rested during day and travelled by night.
　［正］ They rested by day and travelled by night.
　［析］ “在白天”是by day，用介词by而不用during.

1. 当定语从句所修饰的词是day时，关系词that/when/which多省略。例如：
　His father died the day when he was born.　他父亲在他出生那一天去世了。
2. day and night和night and day，有的词典认为两者意思有些不同：day and night等于continuously，用于以昼为主的场合， night and day等于always，用于以夜为主的场合，实际上，两者现已无区别地使用，都是“日夜不停地，日日夜夜地”的意思。
3. the day before yesterday（前天）， the day after tomorrow（后天）等这些短语里的the在美式英语中可以省略。例如：
　He left for London (the) day before yesterday.　他前天启程去伦敦了。
