| 释义 | 1．with difficulty 作“困难地”解，是状语短语，不可用作形容词短语，如可以说 We climbed the hill with difficulty，不可说 Our climb was with difficulty，该把 with difficulty 改作 difficult。但 It was with difficulty that we climbed the hill 是可以说的，却不可把 with difficulty 改作 difficult，因为这句是 We climbed the hill with difficulty 的强势式，那 was 后面当然用副词或状语短语，不可用形容词或形容词短语。 2．in difficulties（注意用复数形式）作“处境困难的”解，是形容词短语，尤其指金钱上的困难。例如：He was in difficulties. in difficulties for...作“缺乏……的”解，如 He was in difficulties for money 和 He was in difficulties for men（他缺乏帮助他的人手）。注意不可在 in difficulties 后面接不定式，如不可说 He was in difficulties to pay the rent，该说 He was in difficulties and unable to pay the rent, and unable 不可省。 偶尔 in difficulty 用作 in difficulties 解。例如：He was in difficulty. 3．make difficulties 和 raise difficulties 都作“提出反对”或“表示异议”解，注意用复数形式。但说“不提出反对”或“不表示异议”用 make（或 raise）no difficulties 或 make（或 raise）no difficulty 都可以。 4．在 have（much，great 等）difficulty in...ing 和 find（much，great 等）difficulty in...ing 里都用单数形式 difficulty，前面都没有 a。have difficulty in...ing 里的 in 往往省去。例如：I had little difficulty (in) finding the house. There is（much, great 等）difficulty in...ing 里的 in 也有时省去。例如：There was some difficulty (in) getting in touch with the children at home. 5．不可说 There is some difficulty for me to understand spoken English 该说 There is some difficulty in my understanding spoken English。或 I have some difficulty in understanding spoken English。 6．注意下面各句里习惯用复数形式 difficulties： We needed an interpreter because we had language difficulties. The enterprise prospered in spite of money difficulties. Printing difficulties have delayed the publication of the magazine. It is technical difficulties only that they have yet to overcome. |
