词组 disagree
释义 disagree
Phythian 1979 says disagree takes with, not from. The OED shows that from is obsolete — there are no citations after the 17th century, except one 19th-cen-tury legal use. To seems still to be found in legal contexts, especially in disagreed to, which may be paired with the more modern-sounding agreed to.
In ordinary use, with is common but other prepositions can be found, especially when the object refers to the general subject of discussion rather than the rejected viewpoint:
One can disagree with his views, but one can't refute them —Henry Miller, The Air-Conditioned Nightmare, 1945
It is possible to disagree with the U.S. proposal — Norman Cousins, Saturday Rev., 30 Oct. 1971
... the authorities disagree about the procedure to be followed —F. S. C. Northrop, The Logic of the Sciences and the Humanities, 1947
Mr. Beard and Miss Compton disagreed on the distance of meat from heat —Jane Nickerson, N.Y. Times Mag., 27 June 1954
