词组 infuse
释义 infuse
When infuse is used with a preposition, it is usually with:

... infused only with her passion for her child — Ethel Wilson, Lilly's Story, 1952
His facile, free use of pen and brush infuses the massive subjects with a joyful vitality —Ada Louise Huxtable, NY. Times, 27 Apr. 1980
Less frequently, infuse is used with by:
Subsequent chapters... are infused by a remarkable grasp of the facts —Hal Lehrman, N. Y. Times Book Rev., 7 Aug. 1955
In another often encountered sense—"introduce, insinuate"—infuse is used with into:

Infuse also has been used with in or to:

Shakespeare, in addition to using infuse with in, into, and with, also used it with on; this last use is not found in contemporary prose:
With those clear rays which she infused on me That beauty am I bless'd with which you see —Henry VI, 1592
There have been some critics, Evans 1957 and Phythian 1979 among them, who object to "infusing a person with something." The fact of the matter is that it is a long-established use dating back to the 16th century. It may be that the OED, in labeling the use obsolete, influenced language commentators against it. The OED, it turns out, was premature in calling the sense obsolete. In the first OED Supplement (1933) this sense of infuse receives further treatment, including a directive to remove the obsolete label, and the sense is illustrated with two quotations, dated 1900 and 1928. Our own files indicate continuing widespread use:
... the self-respect with which men had been infused —Dixon Wecter, When Johnny Comes Marching Home, 1944
... infusing both older cadres and younger masses with devotion —Robert C. North, New Republic, 4 July 1955
... his ability to infuse others with his own enthusiasm —Current Biography, November 1967
