■ less 与 fewer本来 less 是专管不可数名词的 little 的比较级，fewer 是专管可数名词的 few 的比较级。按理，less 只能用于不可数名词，可数名词应该同 fewer 一起，如：less sugar, less time, fewer people, fewer ships, fewer houses 等等。但是在实际语言中，fewer 已经越来越少用，被 less 所代替，如：less people, less seats 等等，已经约定俗成（但说 fewer people 仍多于说 less people）。尤其是有些复数名词，其实是不可数的集合一团，用 fewer 反而别扭，不如用 less 更符合人们的心理。 - ...
