We have evidence for this pronunciation from some educated speakers of the language, including several prominent politicians, but it is not common by any means and is widely regarded with scorn. The standard pronunciation of grievous is \\\\grē-vəs\\\\. Usage commentators warn against the \\\\'grē-vē-əs\\\\ pronunciation, and some of them also warn against the spelling grievious. If this misspelling does occur, it is extremely rare in print, at least according to our evidence.
