释义 | high, highly Both high and highly are adverbs, but they are seldom used in the same situations. High is used for both literal and figurative distance up: climbed higher, rose high in the corporation, aims high, prices have gone too high. It is also used for rich living: living too high on the hog. Highly can denote high position in a scale: highly placed officials, highly paid. Most often, highly is used before an adjective or a participle in an intensive function: highly successful, highly polished, highly interesting, highly amused.
