      The verb blink has a transitive sense "to refuse to recognize, to close one's eyes to, ignore." This has often been used in the phrase blink the fact:

      This sense is turned into an intransitive with at once in a while:

      The OED first noted the at construction in an 1857 citation, which it considered improper. Copperud 1970, 1980 echoes the OED disapproval, with the implication that blink at is not idiomatic. It is idiomatic, however; it is simply rare.
      Blink at is used in a related sense which means "to view with surprise or dismay":
