- I go past their house every morning.

- It's just past the school.

- It's ten past six.

- While it may be difficult to get past the feelings of shame and failure, the truth is, asking for help may be the only way to get the assistance you need.
- Once you get past being offended about anything, life is so much easier.
但是 get past something 还可以表示“经历某种一时的状态之后平静下来”,例如有人谈到美国 2008 年总统大选中民主党竞选人奥巴马的一本书时说: - Once you get past the happy surprise of finding a politician who can actually write, the book contains some disquieting elements.
- She always hid her eggs, though, so we never found ‘em ‘til (= them until) they were past being edible.

(Henry Lawson, A Romance of Three Huts)
