这两个代词所表达的“数量”这一概念，不全一样：前者含有“合计”的义蕴（参见词目 171 ），后者则含有“各自”的义蕴。
比较：
Both of us won a prize. 咱俩合得一份奖品。（是一份奖品）
Each of us won a prize. 我们各得一份奖品。（是两份奖品）
Both of them attempted to fool each other. 他们俩都想互相欺弄。（两人之间）
Each of them attempted to fool the other. 他俩都想欺弄别人。（两人各对各的）
