　这三个词均可作“居民”解。其区别在于：citizen是普通用语，指享有选举权和其他各种权利的人或居住在城镇的人；inhabitant指生活在某地的居民，不一定指出生在当地的人，也可指栖居在某地的动物；resident表示当地的居民或外地的旅游者，也可指由于工作、学习的原因而居住某处的人。例如：
