词组 | everyplace |
释义 | everyplace The history of everyplace parallels that of anyplace. It is a word of apparently American origin that has only recently begun to appear in print with any regularity. The objections that have been made to anyplace have also been made to everyplace (and also to no place and someplace). Its status in current English is as a somewhat informal synonym of everywhere: • "... and everyplace we stopped on the way up, people smiled at us ..." —Rolling Stone, 1 Mar. 1973 • Although, like everyplace else, the White Elephant had engaged a corps of college students —Horace Sutton, Saturday Rev., 16 Oct. 1976 • Not only will it list everyplace that sells anything I may want —advt, DAK Industries Inc. (catalog), Winter 1986 See also anyplace; noplace; someplace. |
