■ (just) because

1) 本来 because 引入的从句都是原因状语从句，但是美国非正式英语中，because 从句在一个情况下可以作为名词从句，并且升格成为整句的主语，那就是 Just because... doesn't ...

• Just because he thinks it a good idea doesn't mean it's a good idea.他觉得是好办法，不见得就是好办法。
• Just because the person who criticizes you is an idiot doesn't make him wrong.批评你的人是个白痴，不等于他就是错了。

有时候 just because... 仍然保持状语从句地位，另由一个 it 来充当整句的主语（有时是形式主语，有时是真正的主语）。

• Just because he has lived in the US, it does not follow that he is good at English.他在美国居住过，并不等于他的英语一定很好（it 是形式主语，提前代表 that...）。
• Just because doctors can't find an "organic" cause—meaning that there's no evidence of a structural, biochemical, or infectious basis for the symptoms—it doesn't mean you're imagining things.医生们找不到“器官性”的原因，也就是说，没有迹象表明这些症状有结构上、生化上或是感染上的原因，但是这并不是说，只是心理作用。

Just because... it doesn't follow... 这个句型，其实是 not... because...句型（其中的“否否肯”型）的变种，只是把被否定的 because 因果关系移到句首。参见 (not)... because... 条。

由于 just because 有“单单这个原因（并不能因此而…）”的意义，所以很容易转为“虽然…（但是…）”（这时候后面的主句甚至不必是否定句）；例如，纽约州一个反卖淫的民间组织负责人谈到高级卖淫和街头卖淫的异同时说：

• The exploitation is the same. Just because one perpetrator has more money the result is the same. (The Sunday Gazette, Schenectady, New York, March 16, 2008, A9)剥削是一样的。尽管一方的犯罪人钱更多，结果还是一样的。

也可以用 merely 之类的副词代替 just。

• But merely because this distinction is not significant to the physicist does not mean that it is not meaningful in other sectors of science. (Leslie A. White, The Science of Culture)不过，这个区别，尽管对物理学家来说意义不大，但这并不是说，在其他科学领域就没有意义了。

2) just 放在 because 前面，可以起一种特殊的作用，就是表示前面或后面的否定涵盖了 because 所代表的因果关系。也就是说，是否定管了 because（“不因为…而…”），而不是 because 管了否定（不是“因为…而不…”），详细说明请看 (not)... because... 条中的 3) 与 6) 。
