| 释义 | accept, except Nearly every handbook published between 1917 and the present carries a warning against confusing accept and except. A good half of these unnecessarily distinguish the preposition or conjunction except from accept, which is only a verb. Queen Elizabeth I spelled as she pronounced, and she spelled before there were such amenities as spelling books and dictionaries for reference. |
