【答】 much more只能用在肯定句之后：

1. He is kind to me，much more to my elder brother.

2. It's difficult to understand him，much more his wife.

他的话很难懂，他妻子的话就更难懂了。

而She scarcely bothered to look at us.是一个否定句(见hardly，seldom，scarcely)，故不能用much more，而必须换用much less。后者可以用在否定句之后：

1. I never think of it，much less say it.

我连想都没想到这件事，更不用说讲它了。

2. I never even spoke to the man，much less insulted him. (DAI)

我同这个人从未讲过话，更不用说侮辱他了。
