【问】 What is worth doing at all，is worth doing well. (Prov)

由于教学上的需要，长期以来我一直在探索肯定句中at all的含义。但是，由于这方面的资料很少，直到现在我仍然没搞明白。

【答】 用在肯定句中的at all不像用在否定句中的(not at all)那么常见，而且意义也较多，一般可译为“根本”、“到底”、“真的”、“竟然”、“毕竟”。

1. What is worth doing at all，is worth doing well.

凡是真的值得做的事，就值得把它做好。

2. I’m surprised you came at all. (Evans)

你竟然来了，很使我吃惊。

3. The question is not so much whether he works much as whether he works at all.

这与其说是他干得多还是干得少的问题，还不如说是他根本干不干的问题。

这种对应关系表示，在SVOC句型中，宾语和表语(主语补语)的关系是与SVC句型

(She was beautiful.)中主语和表语的关系相同的。这种关系，凡在确实需要明确表达的地方，都要用联系动词表达出来。
