 【答】 动词加上介词或副词，构成短语动词(phrasal verbs)。英语的短语动词数量浩瀚，词义繁多，是学习、翻译英语的一大难关。在本例中，译者没有注意到go on to do sth.，go onwith sth.，go on doing sth.这三个短语动词在语义上的区别。
 go on doing sth.是指继续或不间断地做某事(continue without break or interrupt)。例如：
 1. They went on working till late in the night.

 2. He went on talking in spite of my request.

 3. He went on talking as though nothing had happened.
