　〔说明〕 after all作“毕竟”“终究”解时用作修饰句子成分的副词，多位于句末。after all也可用作句子状语，一般位于句首或句中，用以引出听话人或读者似乎忘了某个重要的论点或某个很好的理由，常译作“须知”“要知道”“别忘记”“要注意”等等。
　Don't get discouraged by setbacks, we are new to the work after all.　别因挫折而灰心，这工作对我们来说毕竟还是陌生的。
　I thought I was going to fail the exam, but I passed after all.　我原以为这次考试不会及格了，可我毕竟还是及格了。

　after　可用作连词连接一个时间状语从句，从句中一般用现在时表示将来。

　After I finished my job, I sat down to read a newspaper.　干完活后我坐下来读报。
　After he goes, we shall eat.　他走之后，我们就吃饭。
　I'll leave after he comes back.　他回来后我就走。
