 father是个普通名词，为什么Father之前不加定冠词表示特指?
 【答】 一般地说，亲属的名称(father，mother，uncle，sister等)是要加冠词的。例如：

 爸爸是全家中个头儿最高的。
 2. You have been like a father to me. (ALD)
 你对于我就象是父亲一样。
 3. She was like a mother to the poor waifs. (ALD)
 她对于无家可归的穷孩子就象是母亲一样。

 我现在是叔叔了。
 5. You have been like a brother to me. (LDCE)
 你就象我的兄弟一样。
 但是，在家庭成员中称呼自己的亲属时，可以不用冠词，第一个字母大写，好像把这样的词看作是专有名词似的。例如：
 1. Where's Mother? (CGEL)
 妈妈在哪儿?
 2. Can I help you，Uncle? (McArthur)
 叔叔，我可以帮你忙吗?
 3. How is Father?
 爸爸身体怎么样?
 4. Mother is laid up with high blood pressure.
