【问】 我发现许多英语试题将consider...as判为错误。但在阅读中不时会遇到consider...as
 的用法，如何解释这种现象?
 【答】 有的语法学家把consider...as斥为典型错误。例如，F. Crews教授就曾说过：“Whenconsider means regard，it shouldn't be followed by as： He considered me (as) his friend. Theerror is common because regard does take as.”(The Random House Handbook，New York，1974，P.229)许多国外考题持有这样的观点，例如日本浜松医大的英语试题就将“We con-sider him as the best candidate.”判为错句(《英语基本300题》，东京，P.75)，Objective EnglishTest Papers to Certificate Level一书将“Mr. Lee gave his money to those whom he consideredas most worthy.”定为错误答案(P.20)。但是这种用法，在英语文学作品、科技作品中俯拾即是：
 1. Tungay considered the whole establishment，master and boys，as his natural enemies.
 (Dick.，Cop.，Ch，Ⅵ，P.436)
 2. It is certain，however，that in storms in these highlands strange things have been seen，which are considered as connected with the old story of the ship. (Wash. Irv.，The
 Storm-Ship，STOF.，Handl.，I，88)
 3. I have taken the liberty of sending your Almanac to Monsieur de Condorcet，Secretaryof the Academy of Sciences at Paris because I considered it as a document to which yourwhole color has a right for their justification，against the doubts which have been enter-
 tained of them. (American Men of Science and Invention，P.17)
 在TOEFL的试题中也不乏这种用法，例如：
 4. Science and the humanities can not be considered as rivals in education，but rather as
 friends working together toward the same objectives. (TOEFL，1972.6)
 5. Some economists now consider________ more than two to three percent in a year.选择答
 案：(A) inflation as a price rise of(TOEFL，1976.2)
 consider...as这个格式也得到了语言学家们的普遍承认。
 6. They considered i_t beau_tiful. (GCE， P. 852)
 7. He was considered as a kind of god by the natives. (Practical English Usage，P.155)R. A. Close在动词句型表中也列出了 consider... as这个格式(A Reference Grammar
 for Students of English，P.212)。
 R. Quirk等人明确指出，如同regard as，class as一样，consider as代表的是另一类介词动词，即后面跟的是介词宾语补足语，而不是介词宾语：
 We considered him
 他们还进一步指出，下列各句中的任何一句我们都可以说或写：
 I consider her my friend. ～I consider her as my friend. (CGEL，§1.39)
